Musica Viva & Alexander Rudin B

Chamber orchestra

The Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva is one of the most popular and loved chamber orchestras of the Russian capital. The unique atmosphere of the orchestra's concerts is but one of many attractions for the audience. Without any fuss or fanfares and unnecessary pathos the musicians present refined and unconventional musical programmes, in which acknowledged masterpieces rub shoulders with musical rarities. The reserved charm of high-level professionalism and genuine enthusiasm of the members of the orchestra, the delicate taste in their choice of musical works and invited soloists have formed a unique artistic image of Musica Viva.

The ensemble has made many recordings, amongst other a Beethoven CD and an Alyabiev(1787-1851) CD for the Belgian Fuga Libera label. The last one received a 10/10 from Classics Today. September 2010 the label released a new Glinka CD.

The Academic chamber orchestra “Musica Viva” was formed in 1978 in the city of Vladimir by the violinist and conductor Victor Kornachev.
Since 1988 the group has been led by the Alexander Rudin – one of the most famous cellists both within Russia and beyond its borders, pianist and conductor. The image of a musical group as a whole is determined by the degree of his individuality and talent.
