The Korean National Symphony Orchestra (KNSO) will perform for the first time in Amsterdam, bringing a romantic and enchanting program to Het Concertgebouw. Under the baton of Chief Conductor David Reiland, this concert promises to be an unforgettable evening of classical music.

This special event will offer the Dutch audience a unique opportunity to experience world-class performances by some of South Korea's most renowned artists. Celebrated soprano Sumi Jo will captivate with virtuosic arias from Bellini and Donizetti, while 18-year-old cello prodigy Jaemin Han will perform Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations. The program will conclude with Schumann’s lyrical Symphony No. 4, a masterpiece of Romantic music.

This concert not only marks the orchestra's Amsterdam debut but also serves as a cultural celebration of Korean National Foundation Day. Traditionally observed with grand fireworks in South Korea, the event in Amsterdam will echo the festivities through music, bringing people together in a shared appreciation of artistry and heritage.

  • Sumi Jo, Soprano
    Two-time Grammy Award winner Sumi Jo is a global opera sensation, known for her performances with legends like Herbert von Karajan and Plácido Domingo. Her expressive voice and technical mastery have made her a diva of the bel canto repertoire.

  • Jaemin Han, Cello
    At just 18 years old, Jaemin Han is a rising star in the classical music world. The youngest-ever prize winner of the George Enescu International Competition, Han has already made a significant mark with his powerful performances.

  • David Reiland, Conductor
    Belgian-born conductor David Reiland is celebrated for his interpretations of Mozart and Schumann. As the KNSO’s 7th artistic director, Reiland is leading the orchestra to new heights, expanding its reach beyond South Korea to international stages.
