Harriet, Bach and Friends - The Recording Edition
Harriet Krijgh, the Dutch cellist, is embarking on an incredible journey: recording Bach's six cello solo suites alongside major chamber music works, performed with her closest friends. This musical celebration of friendship and passion for music stems from her annual festival, "Harriet and Friends," held at Burg Feistritz in Austria.
Under the label 'Capriccio ', the project will release two CDs per season, commencing in September 2024 with Suite No. 1 and Tchaikovsky's piano trio. The four-season program, "Harriet, Bach, and Friends - The Recording Edition," is as follows:
📍2024-25
* Bach – Solo Suite No. 1 in G Major BWV 1007, paired with Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A Minor Op.50
* Bach - Solo Suite No. 2 in D Minor BWV 1008, accompanied by Dvorák's Piano Quintet in A major Op.81
📍2025-26
* Bach - Solo Suite No. 3 in C Major BWV 1009, complemented by Arensky's Quartet No. 2 in A minor Op.35
* Bach - Solo Suite No. 4 in E Flat Major BWV 1010, combined with Brahms' String Sextet No. 1 in B flat major Op.18
📍2026-27
* Bach - Solo Suite No. 5 in C minor BWV 1011, along with Schubert's String Quintet in C Major D956
* Bach - Solo Suite No. 6 in D Major BWV 1012, paired with Dohnanyi’s Sextet in C Major Op.37
In her personal introduction to the project, Harriet Krijgh expressed, "This new musical endeavor stems from my deep love for music, especially Johann Sebastian Bach and his milieu, and my cherished friendships, both old and new. Beginning in spring 2024, every six months will see the release of a new album by Capriccio. Each CD will feature one of Bach's beloved cello suites, accompanied by carefully selected chamber music pieces performed alongside dear musical companions. These albums will be accompanied by texts, photos, and personal reflections. My hope is that these musical treasures from bygone eras will bring you new moments of beauty and joy in our present time."
