Soprano Deborah Cachet sings Théone in Lully’s Phaéton at the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur

Deborah Cachet makes her debut at the Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur today, in the role of Théone in Lully’s tragédie lyrique Phaéton. The new production is directed by Eric Oberdorff and conducted by Jérôme Correas. There are three performances until March 27th, all in Nice.

 A laureate of the 2019 Jardin des Voix (the young artists programme of William Christie and Les Arts Florissants), Deborah Cachet continues to be in high demand for early Italian, German and especially French repertoire.

Earlier this year, she performed Lully’s Psyché (roles: Aglaure, Amour and Nymphes) with Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset at the Opéra Royal de Versailles and the Theater an der Wien.

The recording of Rameau’s Les Boréades with Collegium 1704 and Vaclav Luks, on which she sings one of the main roles Alphise, was awarded an Edison Klassiek Award. Deborah received rave reviews for her interpretation of this role:

 In June this year, she will headline the opening concert of the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci. She will sing a solo concert themed “Departing for Kythera” with Les Arts Florissants under Paul Agnew. The program will feature music by Blow, Locke, Lully, Händel, Rameau, and Grabu, among others.

Other plans include a tour of her solo programme of airs de cour La Chambre Bleue, “Musique précieuse” in the Parisian salons with theorbist Sofie vanden Eynde for Early Music Utrecht in April, and performances of Händel’s Dixit Dominus with the Flemish Radio Choir and Il Gardellino, led by Bart van Reyn in May.
