Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk 2023 for Nicolò Foron
The young German-Italian conductor Nicolò Umberto Foron receives the Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk, 29 August at the Musikfest Bremen 2023. In addition to a CD production, the prize includes a concert evening at the Musikfest Bremen 2024 together with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
Foron conducts the orchestras with great concentration, precision, a complete focus on the orchestra, free of airs and graces, with controlled passion and focused energy, interpreting a wide range of music from the classical to the romantic and classical modern to contemporary works. Foron has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, where he is currently Assistant Conductor, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. Future concerts will take him to the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt, the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence, the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Lorraine and the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France.
Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk
With the "Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk", Deutschlandfunk and the Musikfest have been supporting highly talented young artists since 1998. The award includes, as a non-cash prize, a studio production for a CD recording as artist in residence at the Deutschlandfunk Chamber Music Hall in Cologne and an engagement at the Musikfest Bremen. Prize winners in previous years have included Julia Fischer, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Sophie Pacini, Leonard Elschenbroich, Jean Rondeau, Aaron Pilsan and Äneas Humm.
