Great Reviews for Otto Tausk

Bachtrack ★★★★ "Nederlandse Reisopera’s Fidelio makes opera truly accessible for all"

“Written the year after Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Fidelio is full of orchestral colour, from lyrical cellos to off-stage trumpets, and Otto Tausk’s masterful and meticulous command of this incredible score, creating suspense at every corner, was mesmerising. Phion Orkest was on fire! The French horns were the undoubted stars of the show with their hugely intricate and impressive hunting calls.

Place de l’Opéra “CLEAR, STILIZED ORCHESTRAL SOUND” :

“The stylized design was immediately audible in the overture. Otto Tausk had the orchestra play with tight, powerful expression, evoking tension by sometimes reducing the volume considerably and by inserting small interruptions in the musical progression. As if the breath was being held for a moment. Tausk also kept the reins tight in the interplay with the singers, but left enough room for lyricism and drama in the elaboration by the soloists.”

Mini Docu Fidelio, in Dutch language

Otto Tausk tells which parts of the opera he loves most. He explains as well why he has chosen the seldom performed Overture Leonore no. 2 for the opening.

With the Opera of St. Gallen Otto Tausk made a DVD of Fidelio, which was released in 2018. https://laboiteamusique.eu/nl/product/beethoven-fidelio-otto-tausk/
