Storioni Festival kicks off in Eindhoven

The festival program was expanded from 1 week to 2 weeks to reach more people in the city of Eindhoven

The 16th edition of the Storioni Festival has begun!

The title of this year’s edition is “Sound Relatives” and it begins with a true city festival, an "outreach week," focusing on community projects, talent development and education. On May 20, there is the successful city event 'Music in the Streets,' where professional musicians and amateurs play together in the center of Eindhoven.

From Wednesday, May 24 through Sunday, May 28, the large public concerts will take place with international top musicians at various hotspots in Eindhoven, such as Piet Hein Eek's studio and the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

19.00 – 20.00 hrs: ‘De Keuze van Karmit’  (composer in residence)

This concert is dedicated to friendship and is entitled "Karmit's Choice," after the young Israeli-Dutch composer Karmit Fadael (b. 1996). Together with Garreth Lubbe, the Storioni Trio will perform the world premiere of her composition "Misericordia" for piano trio and overtone vocals. Schumann and Brahms are the other composers on this program.

20.00 – 21.00 hrs: Storioni Café – Talkshow with the Storioni Trio and festival musicians

21.00 – 22.00 hrs: “Innige Bewondering”

Storioni Trio

The Storioni Trio founded in 1995 performs works for piano trio ranging from classical to contemporary, from Haydn to Henze. The trio is a leading expert in the triple concerto repertoire (Beethoven, Casella, Juon, Martinu, Moor, Voříšek). The Storioni Trio has commissioned composers such as Kevin Volans, David Lang, Peter-Jan Wagemans, Nico Muhly and Willem Jeths to write triple concerto which they have also premiered.

In the 2023-24 season, the trio will play the world premiere of Sebastian Fagerlund's triple concerto with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Residentie Orkest. With Philharmonie Zuidnederland, the trio will play Beethoven's triple concerto. The trio made recordings of the Móor triple concerto with the National Youth Orchestra and with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and it performs worldwide in the most renowned venues in at numerous international chamber music festivals.
